The villa and its history
Built in the first half of the 19th century on the remains of a former hunting lodge, the villa has always been in the family of its current owners.
During the last world war it was chosen as headquarters first by the retiring German troops then by the Americans, and was therefore bombed by the former and latter.
Though carefully reconstructed and partly enlarged, it still bears the signs of these attacks on the rails, window sills and door frames, which have been deliberately left untouched.
