Finding us is quite easy, because we are just outside Florence along the road that goes to Siena and San Gimignano, and not very far from Volterra and the Tuscan coast of Maremma.

The name Massanera probably originates from the thick ilex woods that surrounded the villa in the Middle Ages. Originally this was a hunting lodge that belonged to some Florentine noblemen and was converted into a farm only in the 18th century after the agricultural conversion of part of the land and the erection of two buildings for the "farmers" and the storage of crops, as the inscriptions on the marble slabs remind us.

At present the property extends over an area of approximately 100 hectares, 30 of which are occupied by vineyards, olive groves and crops, while the woods have been reserved over 10 years to the rearing of the "cinta senese" race of pigs that are now free to roam and reproduce in these woods.

Part of the property has been reconverted into farm holiday homes that offer a total of 22 beds and also include a restaurant specialized in typical dishes and a tasting hall, which along with the two swimming pools, make our own very patch of land in the Chianti Classico region truly unique.
